Mount Rushmore

88 years ago today, Congress approved a plan to blast and carve the faces of four presidents into the side of a mountain in South Dakota’s Black Hills. My all-time favorite shot of the national memorial: Lee Friedlander’s Mount Rushmore, 1969.
